Greetings from Arlo:

Many people have asked me how I am feeling. In last year’s newsletter we reported my bout with prostate cancer. Now my testimony is on this website. Let me say I am feeling great and thank God for what he has enabled me to do this year. Jesus Christ still heals as well as saves.

From my itinerary you can see that I ministered in over 30 churches while traveling in seventeen states in the U.S. and five provinces in Canada. I also spoke at the Western District Youth Convention, a men’s retreat, a senior’s banquet, a homeless shelter, the Bible College seminar in Ottawa, Steadfast conferences in Indianapolis, IN and Jackson, MS, and the Glorious Church Conference at Lancaster, PA.

In the spring Jane and I taught a Religious Education course at the Apostolic Bible Institute and in the fall I preached the welcome night service and taught a Creation course. At the Christian Service Training Institute in San Diego I taught a course in Acts and Jane and I taught a Sunday School Dynamics Course. At Jackson College of Ministries I spoke at two chapel services.

I found it exciting to speak and debate at seven colleges and universities in Florida (FAU, FIU, UCF, CFCC, UST, UF, and FSU). At USF Tampa I debated the chairman of the board of the atheists of Florida. The atheists paid to have the debate professionally videoed as they planned to show it on their TV program. Over 250 attended the FSU debate in Tallahassee and two of the students who attended have since received the Holy Ghost.

In El Salvador I spoke in one church, conducted a one day seminar on teaching techniques for the Bible college faculty and conducted a one day seminar on Creation for those who had previously graduated from their Bible College. Missionary Scotty Slaydon is shown translating..

While I was home I finished the study questions for the Old Testament and numerous quizzes, all of which are available on our website.

 Additional info from Jane:

We squeezed in a vacation with our trip to Canada. In Maine we visited friends and in New Brunswick we saw the Reversing Falls, and the Bay of Fundy, site of the deepest tides in the world. We walked on the ocean floor while the tide was out. We drove to Prince Edward Island, enjoyed the beautiful landscapes, and attended the musical “Anne of Green Gables.” Un-expectedly we saw friends from the U.S. in the audience that night! We took the ferry to Nova Scotia and visited Peggy’s Cove. In Ottawa we watched the changing of the guard, the Sound and Light show at the Parliament and took a land and sea cruise (the  land bus just drove into the water and around the harbor). We drove through portions of New York, Vermont and New Hampshire before flying home. To be honest, Arlo drove the whole way – over 2200 miles!

While we were with Dan and Amanda Flemming in Ames, Iowa, I saw their daughter, McKenzie’s, beautiful rocking chair made by Harold Stoneburner. After hearing me oohing and ahhing over it and telling Brother Stoneburner that I would like to buy one, he said he had one available. I assured him I wanted it. After the telephone conversation Arlo asked me, “How much does it cost?” I had no idea! There have been very few items I wanted as much as I wanted that rocking chair and thankfully Arlo was kind enough to get it for me. Then Dan and Amanda graciously accepted the job of getting it shipped to Chula Vista for us. Finding a shipping company took up more of their time than I had anticipated but I really appreciate it. The rocking chair has a prominent spot in our living room.

We regret that we do not get to see Ed and Lina, and Jonathan (19), Krista (17), Kayla (14) and Jaron (6) much in that they live in the San Jose area. Ed has done contract work for Hewlett Packard and Sun Microsystems. Lina is events coordinator for the Rock church in Mountain View. She was involved with the “redo” of Pastor Grandquist’s office and Ed made this beautiful display unit for it. They also have a care group that meets in their home. We plan to go there for Christmas.

Glenda’s business www.FinancialBridges.com has more than tripled this year compared to last year. She was helped greatly by a number of articles that were published in the business section of the local paper. In one of these Glenda did a financial makeover for a couple. In the article the wife praised Glenda by saying, “I really think we got some sound advice.”

Sam and Kerri continue to see incredible growth in their church www.flcf.org. The church has become Sam’s main focus since July. Kerri has one test left and anticipates becoming a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist early next year. Joshlyn is now 20 months old and is starting to talk in sentences.
