December 2001

Ed, Lina and family are now attending the church in Mountain View, CA pastored by Richard Grandquist. Ed has several dirt bikes for his family and also is becoming quite skilled in woodworking.

Glenda received her M.S.B.A in financial and tax planning from San Diego State University, and became a licensed CPA in California (she had been a CPA in Missouri for years). She also passed the exam to become a Certified Financial Planner.

Sam completed the 3000 supervised counseling hours, passed the written and oral examinations and became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California.

Kerri, Sam’s wife, received her M.A. in Marital and Family Therapy and is about one-third done with her 3000 hours of supervised clinical experience before taking her exams.

During the year I have had the privilege to minister in churches in California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Tennessee, Mexico, England and Wales.  I also had the opportunity to teach at Central Florida Community College in Orlando, Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Millennial Bible College in Birmingham, England, International School of Ministries in Oxford, and the Christian Service Training Institute in Chula Vista, CA. More details concerning these speaking engagements is in the itinerary section of our website www.DoingGood.org. I spoke at a luncheon meeting of the Institute for Creation Research with the result that we will be doing a loop tour for ICR at churches in Missouri and Illinois in April 2002.

Together Jane and I attended InfoComm in Las Vegas, a Bible College seminar in Toronto, the UPCI General Conference, Louisville and took two courses at Southwestern College dealing with searching the Internet. I also attended the Western District Conference in Sacramento, School of Missions in Carlinville, IL and Comdex in Las Vegas.

At home we have worked on some major projects that hopefully will live on after we pass from this scene. We have, by the help of a friend in Texas, developed CD’s which contain PowerPoint presentations for each chapter of each of our three books. These are designed for a person to be able to teach these topics. A person with knowledge of PowerPoint can add to or modify the slides if needed. Each CD contains hundreds of illustrations. We spent months writing for permissions and searching for pictures in public domain.

Last year on our web site I put study questions for the New Testament and Genesis and Exodus. This year I included Leviticus through Job. Also, by the help of several translators and missionaries, we have all of the New Testament study questions in Spanish on the website as well as ten quizzes on the Book of Acts in Tagalog.

Our website now contains a Bible Challenge. A person takes a test, reads the New Testament through during the year and answers the related study questions, and completes a similar exam at the end of the year to see how much they have learned. There are some neat interactive quizzes for those who progress through this challenge. A Bible reading schedule is included on the website.  Written materials should be completed early next year for those without Internet access.

We give glory to God who gives us strength and a sound mind each day. God has been so good to us.
